Abstract

[Indexed for MEDLINE] 15. Knee. 2006 Jan;13(1):54-6. doi: 10.1016/j.knee.2005.09.006. Epub 2005 Nov 18. Tuberculosis of patella. Mittal R(1), Trikha V, Rastogi S. Author information: (1)Department of Orthopaedics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi 110029, India. ravimittal66@hotmail.com Osteoarticular tuberculosis is rare and affects the knee in about 8% of cases and the patella in less than 0.1%. This study reports a series of five patients who were immunologically competent but living in an endemic area for tuberculosis. Treatment with antituberculous therapy and early mobilization of the knee joint led to a successful outcome in all cases without patellectomy or arthrodesis. DOI: 10.1016/j.knee.2005.09.006
