Abstract

[Indexed for MEDLINE] 13. Pediatr Clin North Am. 2020 Feb;67(1):153-167. doi: 10.1016/j.pcl.2019.09.012. The Pediatric Knee and Proximal Tibia. Woernle M(1), Fechisin JP(2). Author information: (1)Monmouth Medical Center, 300 2nd Avenue Long Branch, NJ 07740, USA. (2)Seaview Orthopaedic & Medical Associates, 1200 Eagle Avenue, Ocean, NJ 07712, USA. Electronic address: jpfech@hotmail.com. Pediatric knee disorders are various and range from trauma and sports injuries to chronic overuse injuries. Because pediatric patients are different from adults, management of pediatric injuries and general knee disorders is also often different. Primary treatment regimen goals focus on a return to the previous level of function, preservation of anatomy, and decreasing potential long-term effects. Long-term complications may include damage to the physis with resultant potential limb length discrepancy or deformity. Copyright © 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
